cam help

ive been reading up on cams lately, and they look like a better investment than rockers. i was looking at the gt1 and gt2 cam. with the gt1 could i just put this in with no aftermarket pushrods, or springs (i would most likely put 90 or 105 springs in anyway)???? Also if i go w/ the gt2 cam what supporting mods would i need to run that? got about $100 in the gp fund, so im only a few hundred away, and i start my second job( paid realestate interenship next week) so thats all cam and moding money!!!!!!!!

Re: cam help

The 105 springs are a good bet. The cam will give more power than the rockers, but the rockers can be done by yourself in an evening with a case of beer. The cam is at least 18+ hours and you'll need help. GT1 cams generally won't set an engine code where the gt2 cam will. To have the cam installed will cost you at least $500 to have some one do it. Also if you later want to upgrade to a turbo kit, the after market cam does not play well with them. Do you drive a GTP or a GT? That also comes into play.

You might want to try one of these. This is from the Intense site and they say that the price for a cam install is 500 bucks (plus materials plus sales tax)

Please email [email protected] or [email protected] for all installations in Wisconsin, specializing in L67-swaps.

Re: cam help

What the guy above this said, and one other thing: Your engine will suffer more wear and tear with the cam. But you gotta pay to play ....

Re: cam help

It depends on how hard you thrash the engine after you do the install.
