montana power windows

my two front door windows have not worked for over a year. i have power to the motor so i assume the motors are bad. each went at a different time. in the manual it says you need a special tool to hold the regulator spring. anyone have experience with replacing the motors?

Before you replace the motors, have you checked the wires that run under the floor? There is an issue with them becoming corroded from water leaking under the carpet from the ac condensor drain in the firewall. If you pull up the carpet on the passenger side front, you will see all the wires, look for corrosion. I forget which colors run the power windows, but if theyre corroded you have to splice in a new wire after cutting out the bad piece. This should restore window (and lock) functionality on most of these vans. Do a search on the forum for power windows and you will find the correct color wires under the floor for the windows.
