Question 1.6 GTi Corolla. Can i fit a turbo??

Hi
I shall be doing a engine swap on my corolla GL (currently a 1.3 12 valve) for a 1.6 twin cam 16 valve (very fast but needs 2 b faster!!) Well i was wondering if a turbo or supercharger could be slung into the mix to start to speed things up. My aim is to have a 10 sec. car with the all the mods im doing to the engine aswell. so anyone who can help me with my turbo hopes just drop me a line. Maybe one day my street racing dream will be reality.
Cheers

in a corolla?!?

well at least your not in a brand new bought civic...

What do you need a 10 sec car for anyway? Anything can be done as long as you have the money and time to do it.

With enough money anything can be done. But if you are really shooting for 10seconds, how about a rotary engine swap, I've seen heaps here in Australia.Early model corollas with 20B rotaries and big turbos easily running 10s.Thats if you have the money of course.

Re: 1.6 GTi Corolla. Can i fit a turbo??

I can guarantee you that he didn’t just “slap a turbo on” the engine. The 4ag based engine is what a Toyota Formula Atlantic uses, and those won’t run a 10 second ¼ mile- yes, I know that gearing also affects this, but you won’t be able to get your car as light as an Atlantic either. Best idea, don’t use the 4age as your platform. A 20b under enough boost can definitely go very fast, especially in a car as light as a Corolla.

Re: 1.6 GTi Corolla. Can i fit a turbo??

Your looking at much more than a turbo for ten second runs. Go to the forced induction forums and read all three of the top threads with *important* in front of them. Then basically read everything you can get your hands on about your car. If you do get your car in the tens, it will be no sunday drive car. Daily driver ten second cars really only exist in FATF with a few exeptions. $$$$$.

Re: 1.6 GTi Corolla. Can i fit a turbo??

Granny shifting not double clutching like you're supposed to!!! NOW ME AND THE MAD SCIENTIST GOTTA RIP THE BLOCK APART AND REPLACE THE PISTON RINGS YA FRIED

JEEEEZE

If you have the cash, do an engine swap and get something thats more fitted to "go fast". why aim so low as 10 seconds? I know i would be content with a 12-12.5 second car and you probably wont meet a lot of "street racers" much faster than that... at all....

SIG HEIL PAUL WALKER!!!
