How can you take off the clip that holds the brake switch located on the brake pedal of a 1996 half ton chevrolet (cheyenne). My brake lights went out and me and my dad figured thats the only thing left, but we cant get past that switches little keeper on there. Someone help please! Thanks for your time in advance.

Re: Brake Light Switch Keeper?!
Thus Sayeth the omnipotent Chilton:
1: disconnect negative battery cable. (you can if you want....I probably wouldn't) 2: Disable SIR system if equipt. 3: Remove the clip (r/v series) or unclip the switch (c/k series) and unplug the electical connector from the switch. 4: Remove the switch 5: Installation is reverse of above DON'T YOU LOVE THE INDEPTH DIRECTIONS!!! ![]() I have never had to change the one on mine, sorry. Good luck

Buy a new one
Just replaced my switch. Wasn't the real problem... still looking. I had to breack the retaining clip to get it off and bought a new one from the Chevy dealer for $1.50. Its called a stop light switch retaining clip.
Hope this helps.. |
