safari tranny problems
"This is a two part question, maybe someone can help me.
I have no forward drive in my 1994 safari van. As soon as it shifts from 2nd into the D range it acts like I shifted to neutral. I can shift down and select 1 or 2 and drive around all day like that but when it is in the D speed range there is nothing. I had a leak and lost all the fluid and thats when this started, so I'm thinking the tranny is toast. Opinions are wellcome. As i'm thinking my tranny is toast I started to look around for a good used one. I've learned that I have a 4L60E and that this particular tranny is joined up to nearly every RWD vehical GM makes since 1993. My question is, if I find a good low milage 4L60E tranny that's came out of a jimmy or caprice or something other than a 1994 safari / astro can I use it."; |

ya,,,,,your SOL,,,,,3/4 clutch is burned,,,,shot ,,,ka-put,,,,,,94/95/96
should all fit ,,,,,you want a 4.3 valve body configuration,,,,V8 valve body may be a bit BUMPY,,,,May want to talk to private trans shop they might be talked into re-sealing and changing the clutches and sending you on your way,,,,as long as you don't want a 50yr/5,000,000 mile warranty from a "patch job"!!!!!!!!! |
