quick ls.... ? about the clear corners

Did you make the clear corners yourself or did you pick em' up off of ebay? Also what spring kit did you use if you don't mind my asking.

At any rate your LS looks sharp as a tack and black should be the only color the LS is offered in.

thanx.

yes - did the clear corners and angle-eyes (like a bimmer) myself.

On older LSes they used 'grey glue' to seal the headlamps together, which can be loosened in the oven at 250 degrees for 10mins. Once apart you simply snap out the amber lens.

This was also the major reason many of the older LSes had problem with the headlamps fogging.

The newer LSes use a black glue - and is very very difficult to seperate.

I repeated the steps tinight, except the eyes, and it was a snap. I have a 00 v6 which had the grey adhesive. My wife thought I wa nuts when she came in the kitchenm and found me baking my head lamp.

I love those demon eyes and have given some strong consideration to usng them but really want to knock a inch or so of the height of the car first.

Looks like your has been lowered a bit and would like to know if it has or if it is just the kit. Thanks agaiun for the information and the motivation.

Yes - I'm lowered 2" on all corners.

There are a few kits for the LS out there. I use InTrax - good name - mostly from the import scene. Paid $230~

Re: quick ls.... ? about the clear corners

Cool. Thanks for the lead.

Are there any collateral components I should think about replacing when I do lower it?

you have to do a whell alignment. Don't sweat the fact that you can't get it back exactly - all of us that lowered our LS are between 0.5 and 1.5 degrees out. You can't adjust the rear camber at all.

just rotate your tires frequently.

I seem to wear through the treads rather quickly any way but I will certainly step up the rotation and balanc schedule.

Have you noticed any tire rubbing on the wheel well? Also, do those springs come in any color other that Purple? My mother in law would love the but I on the other hand well I may have to pay extra for the eibach kit.

I swapped out a lot of bulbs this weekend. Man if they didn't miss the boat for ease of access when it comes to the corner bulbs and interior lights. My finger tips are sore as h e dbl hockey sticks. I replaced the license plate bulbs as well.

Would it have been too much to ask to have them document the instructions for these blbs in the owners manual. I am a staunch RTFM guy and felt the system let me down big time on these little but difficult replacements.

I'd rather remove the head light of 30 LS's and bake them and for seperation to remove the orange lenses then rebake and reseal than to have to replace the interior bulbs in on LS.

Yes - I installed white face guages that have a blue/red lighting. They match my AutoMeter C2 blue lit gauges in my a-pillar gauge pod.

You can find the white face gauges on LLSOC.com's store or once in a while on e-bay.

easy to replace - but time consuming since you have to pull apart alot of the dash.

Re: quick ls.... ? about the clear corners

I might save that for the winter when it is pleasant to work out side. Thanks for all the information.

Wow those clear corners really light up well and I love the way the light during the day reacts with the buld and the lense.

I swapped my interior lights with red and it looks great and is most functional. being a seafaring fellow I have always thought the interior lights should be red any way because white light at night is way too bright.

That and the fact that my LS is black makes it too cool for skewl. We all know lincolns look best in black so that gave me an advantage right off the batt...... any way..... Just having one of those I love my eL eS moments. I really appreciate the tech tips on the clear corners. Picture do them no justice.

Good for you!!

Take a look at these:
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...al/default.htm

They are clear (little bluish) but turn yellow when lit - so are DOT legal. That way you do now have the 'egg yolk' look with your new clear corners. You can get them at O'Reilly Automotive for $20.
