Autolite bad? NGK good?
I got my spark plugs replaced last year at a local dealership and they put in Autolite Platinum plugs. After putting them in, I had problems with my spark plug wire popping off the plug and having me only running on 3 cylinders possibly hurting the cylinders. But lately I've noticed a weird throttle response problem where the throttle is not accurate when I first hit the gas or let off the gas. It either lunges me forward or back pretty badly. I asked a local import shop about the problem and he said that it was those cheap autolite plugs. Is it true that Autolite Platinum plugs are not good? He said cause they're american made plugs which are made for american made cars.
So I went out today and ordered some V-power NGK plugs. They are the same listed under the hood. But will the NGK's fix my problem or was it the Autolite plugs doing it all along? Oh and should I replace the spark plug wires when I replace the Autolites with the NGK's?

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
Autolite is a pretty shitty brand, but it may or may not have anything to do with your throttle responce. I use bosch platinum +4's in my civic and like them. Alot of peple will say not to use plat plugs in hondas. In all reality as long as its a good quality plug it will work good. NGK is what most people will say to use.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
only use NGK or Denso Plugs in honda's. Most dealerships will tell you this. I don't know why but honda motors don't like anything but NGK or Denso.
I ran Bosch platinums and my car ran like ass, put the old NGK-R v-groove 100% better (yes they were gaped to spec). I ran Zex plugs and they worked pretty good... just replaced them with NGX IX Iridium plugs, and wow what a difference in throttle responce Vs. the Zex.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
What kind of performance did you notice when u switched plugs. Throttle response, gas mileage, better start up? Sounds like NGK is god of import spark plugs.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
That's very interesting. But they are very close in performance though. So either would be fine but Bosch would have a slight edge. Guys this is great, keep it coming.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
Im using NGKs and i love em, you do not want to use Autolite's, they are one of the shittiest plugs out there. I sold Denso Iridiums to someone with a crown victoria once (when i worked at Auto Zone) at $12.99 a plug. $103.92 is alot of fucking money for spark plugs.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
Alright, I just got down putting the NGK's in and took the Autolites out. The Autolite's looked good so my engine is burning fuel just right. So I took her up the street and back and I felt a sudden difference in the upper 3-4k rpms. Usually, when ever I hit 3k, my engine would not go any faster and pinging was noticable but now it's gone and I have more power. I love my NGK V-powers now!
But after doing so, I noticed a problem when I took out my Autolites. My spark plugs and wires where soaked with oil. The third and fourth cylinder was the worst while the 1st and 2nd wasn't too bad.

Re: Autolite bad? NGK good?
Then you need to change the spark plug seals under the valve cover and change the valve cover gasket.
