BCM replacement for 96 Grand Caravan

Hi, some posts have mentioned the BCM replacement for Grand Caravans already. I have a 96 GC and the dealer says I need a new one. He wants my firstborn child as payment...might as well anyway. I would like to buy one from an auto recycler and do it myself. Can anyone give me instructions on how to do this? Is there anything I need to know before starting? Please, if you have done this before successfully, I would appreciate any tips and or instructions I can get. Thank you in advance.

Re: BCM replacement for 96 Grand Caravan

I'm going to have my mechanic put in a used one for $80. A wrecking yard told me to get the serial # off he bcm, under the dash on left sid of steering wheel and under fuse box. Might be something lke 4686930. depends on if you have auto locks, security or neither. Let me know how you do, I'm still looking for a unit, supposed to be around $130

I would like to try to replace my BCM in a 96 Grand Caravan to fix problems with the windshield wipers, but how do I get it out from under the dash? Do I have remove the entire bracket it's mounted on? DOes the fuse box have to come out first?

thanks for any help!
