I recently installed a KNN 77 series intake on my 2001 silverado. I also took the screen off of my mass air sensor, I was wondering if that would do any engine damage though gaining horsepower and torque.

As long as you keep a filter on it it wont. The screen is there just in case something gets past the filter and its to protect the wires in your mas but somthing should not get past it and if you buy a aftermarket mas it has no screen. thats how they can cliam higher air flow than a stock mas...JJ
