91 metro coil probs

I just got a new coil wire for my 91 metro, and it keeps sparking between where the wire plugs into the coil and grounds nearby. The sparks going to the plugs are all off to the side. Does anyone know anything that might be causing this? Thanks.

cracked coil casing most likely. A new metro coil is about $15 at the auto parts store.

I had taken out the spark plugs to see the sparks, but now I have them back in and it doesn't seem to be sparking at the coil, you think its cracked, or could it be that the spark had no place else to go, so it went there? thanks a lot.
