GT-R Shopping in Japan
I am currently stationed at Misawa, and was wondering if there were any good places to look for R32 GT-R's in the local area? If I have to go farther down south to find the right car I'm willing to do that, as long as I find one in good shape. The places right off base seem to be selling gtr's in horrid condition for excessive prices (and claiming that they're selling it cheap!)
I have done a bit of research and know that I'll have to go thru motorex, so ya'll don't need to lecture on me on that point

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
I work at a car lot in Iwakuni and we regularly sell GT-R's around here. Mainly under 10k.
What kind of prices are you considering horrid and what's been wrong with the cars? |

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
One gtr I was looking at was selling for 12k, had cobwebs all over it, headlights were out of alignment with the hood, and was in rather run down shape. It wasn't the price that was shocking, rather the condition of the car was what made me shake my head and walk away.
I havn't been to too many lots, but it almost seems like the gt-r's don't have much presence here. Though I've seen a few JASDEF people driving around with some rather nice cars! |

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
Matada is the guy that owns the car dealership that I work at in Iwakuni.
We have a very nice gun metal gray '90 GT-R for sale for $9000 with 2 years JCI. The body is in excellent condition, and the interior is near perfect. Stock stereo though. Here's some of the other details on the car... - 112k Km on the odometer. - 255/40ZR17's rear, 225/45ZR17's in front. - Kakimoto exhaust, 3 1/4" full pipe - Blitz intake - Full ROM Tune - Blitz boost gauge - HKS EVC Boost Controller - Blitz Turbo Timer The rest is all original and in good shape. It has had a quarter panel replaced but you can't tell and for 9k.... who cares? The car is VERY fast and runs awesome. If you're interested, I'll post some pics. |

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
oh! BTW!
That price is including the shipping up to Misawa. Also, if you are seriously interested in the car, or if you would like us to look into finding another one for you, we should probably take the discussion to PM. I don't want Razor blowing a gasket that we're talking about this in the General Forum. |

just learn a little katakana and you'll be fine. That was a search for all skylines with manual transmissions.

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
The prices on that page are not that great. Also, those "cheap" GT-R's you spotted do not have JCI. Hence the less cost.
The vast majority of the GT-R's on that page were going for over $10 that had JCI and that's not even including the cost that he would have to endure to have the car shipped to Misawa. I'm offering a GT-R with 2 years JCI, Shipped to his front door with clean bill of health from Yamaguchi Nissan for $9k. If you REALLY think that website is a good choice for buying high-end sports cars, sight-unseen, you go right ahead. |

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
it only cost me about 3-400 bucks to JCI on a car by myself. that's the inspection, weight tax AND the JCI policy. I never said it was a great place to look for a "high end sports car" but it is a good place to get a rough idea of how much you are loking at for a cheap GT-R.
I don't know about you, but 590000 yen is the cheapest real GT-R I've ever seen?

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
Well if JCI is that cheap down there in Okinawa then more power to you. It cost almost twice that here in Iwakuni assuming no repairs or service need to be performed.
Cheap doesn't make a good car either. Most of the GT-R's that I see going for that kind of price are parts cars or won't pass JCI for whatever reason. Wouldn't you be a bit suspicious of a car that is normally sold for around 10-13k going for 5k? I sure would but that's just me. Anyway, I'm not going to take up any more space on this thread. It's the wrong place for it. |

Re: GT-R Shopping in Japan
Oh of course I know there's got to be SOMETHING up with those cars, some of them has kilometerage over 170000 and no JCI etc etc.
Just saying, for a cheap carcass to build on.. maybe if you can find one free of rust you might have a good self paced project. In no way was I trying to like cut in on your buisness or anything like. Personally I would rather pay 12 grand and do it right the first time. I just wanted to list this guy another resource. Nuf said :-)
