- Mod 89 Ford Mustang 5.0

Hello all, I just bought a 89 mustang gt auto...today I went and got a H-pipe installed with a turbo muffler to give it a little more sound! I'm looking to add some mods to her but I really dont know where to start, so thats why I'm going to the pros for help. I only have about 4k to put in her for now but I'm open to any ideas...thanks

Gears, probably 4.10's since you have an auto w/ OD. Then I would say full exhaust including headers and highflow cats. Then since it is a mass air car heads, intake, cam, with some rr's and a set of udp's, subframes, and lower constrol arms should make it pretty potent. You will want to get an aftermarket tb, mass, and injectors before you do heads, cam, and intake though I beleive. I would say you do most of the for around $4k if you do the work yourself. It all depends how much power you want and what you want to do with it.

With 4 grand go to the corral, buy a nice used complete vortech S-trim kit, a bigger proM maf, some 42 pound injectors, 255 LPH walbro fuel pump, some shorty headers (if you want to keep the H-pipe you have now) get a great tune and enjoy.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the GT?

I paid 3,500 but it has a new trans, tires, cd/system and the body and interior are excellent for an 89. She had 148K miles but you could never tell it but the way it drives.

I am so tempted to opting for a 5.0, but it is miles like that, that seem to scare my parents . Being 17 sucks.

well you ll be quicker off the line . the car will have faster acceleration. Of course higher rpms at highway speeds but because its an auto it will work pretty nice .

Re: - Mod 89 Ford Mustang 5.0

thanks..I' Just bought the 4.10 gears!!

Ok so now I have H-pipes with coustom exhaust with headers, Lakewood shocks and now the 4.10 gears. The person that I bought her from said that he had and extra cobra shift key added to the transmission when he had it rebuilt, do you know what that is?

so what do you think I need to do next? I know I need to change the air intake

Re: - Mod 89 Ford Mustang 5.0

When you guys talk about 3.73/4.10 gears, you're talking about gears at the differential, right? or are we talking about Tranny gears?
