dual overhead cam question

I'm sure that all you Evo boys will know the answer to my question. I have a 2003 OZ and I want to put an Evo dual overhead cam on my engine. Is that possible? And do you also know where I can find one? I am just trying to make my engine have more mods without doing a turbo just yet.(i can't afford one) What other misc. things can I do to it to boost my horsepower a bit?

Re: dual overhead cam question

hmmmm, I think it might. Maybe, because those engines are the close to the same size.

Re: dual overhead cam question

You can't just add another cam to a SOHC motor. To swap the "dual overhead cam," you'd probably have to include the entire 4G63 cylinder head. That may or may not work.

Re: dual overhead cam question

My opinion is .... to save up as much money and do an engine swap ... get a good turbo machine and install it.

It's just that when you try to upgrade and put more mods to an angine expecially N/A and your goal is to get the same power as a Turbo engine or you do have the intention to make it a turbo engine.... you'll end up spending more than you should have if you just swap the engine in the first place. Cheapest way is to swap to a true turbo engine and work from there...

the answer to your question is yes... you can ... but it requires a lot of mods.. not just to the cams but the whole top engine assembly....

Re: dual overhead cam question

i'm not sure what engine is used in the OZ (not familiar with the model) but if its SOHC it is probably not even the same bottom end!

if it does bolt up then you still have the problem of compression ratio and turbo cams... isn't there a DOHC NA model anymore?

Re: dual overhead cam question

you know lancer lady that engine is a pretty good engine and takes mods pretty good, i'd stay with that engine and just do mods to it. it's been out for awhile and there are alot of aftermarket co out there that have stuff out for that engine. and like gooseman said for amount of money your gonna spend on putting a dual overhead cam on your engine and everything that goes with it.you'd probably be able to chage your rods, piston, cams, and probably put a turbo on it. also an idea may be to put a stroker kit on the 4g63???????
