Angry Belt squealing again??!?!

I have a 2001 Taurus SES vulcan v-6 w/ 54000mi on it. I replaced the serpentine belt at 40k mi because it was squealing. It is doing it again but will not stop at all. This sounds a little different, it is a constant chirping noise, warm or cold, does not matter. Could it be the belt again, a pully, or a bad tensioner?? ( I've about had it with this car! Horrible reliability) Thanks for any info.

Was it a name brand belt? I have had very good look on all my vehicles with the Gatorback belts.

It sounds like a pully or tensioner . There is an idler pully (the one that doesn't have any grooves) that will wear out first on these cars.

As far as reliability I have had a GenII,GenII and Gen IV and have been very pleased with them. Do you drive through water a lot?

They haven't invented the perpetual motion machine yet and if you are thinking that import cars equals no problems you are very wrong. They have problems too.

I agree, check the tensioner, or pulleys. I've seen the idler pulley go bad on those. Unfortunately it shredded the belt before it was fixed. Also check to make sure the water pump doesn't have any small leaks. If coolant or water gets on the belt it will squeak. If it is coolant it can not be cleaned off and the belt will need replaced.

Re: Belt squealing again??!?!

The belt was a NAPA belt. I've used them on all my other cars and they've worked fine. As for the reliability, i think i just got the short end of the stick with this one. My wife had a 89 taurus 4cyl. Never a problem until the flywheel lost a few gears. Here are the repairs so far on my car bought used at 23kmi:23kmi PS pump, 26kmi oil pan gasket, 32kmi PCM reflash-no start, 45kmi oil pan gasket, 46kmi shorted #4 plug and wire, 47kmi bad #4 injector. Only Motorcraft parts are used except for the belt, and all other work was done by the dealer. I'll be looking at it this weekend, and i'll post what I find. Thanks for all the info.
