good speakers?

I have a 98 accord with its OEM speakers..I believe they are pioneer...they sound wonderful and all but i want a little more bass. I don't want enough to turn my whole frekin car into a vibrator on wheels though, just enough to add a little thump to it. Now, I don't know the first thing about car audio. I just had a new stereo installed today and its great but I think I want to upgrade the speakers now. Do they make speakers that have subwoofer installed in them or do I have to buy the sub seperatelty? I also know I can install a little 10" sub but i'm wondering if thats the best option here or should I get better speakers? Also, what does it mean when they say 2,3, or 4 way speakers? I see speakers on ebay lister anywhere from 10 bucks to 200 and I don't know what to get. I know pioneer is a good company and their speakers are going for 5-10 bucks which is a great deal but then i'm wondering why they are so cheap. I would really appreciate some help. Thanks.

Re: good speakers?

You could run mid bass drivers in your rear stock panels with a deflex panel behind it and that would give you a little more clean bass and that sounds like what your looking for. Because even a little 10" sub in a box will make your car vibrate a lot. You get what pay for as far as speakers go. Definately spend a little more and get some nice speakers. If you want to step up get a component sytem for the front and run mid bass drivers in the rear. But either way if you want it to sound any better your gonna need to run an amp to them. Just my 2 cents.

Re: good speakers?

I would get some good 8" mids and some 1"-2" tweeters up front. Mid bass still is at the point where it is directional. Or get a pair of tangband 8" subs. You can get edead for $1 a square foot. So I would get about 40 or so and just deaden your trunk... Actually. Get 20 sqft and deaden your front doors. that might help the "bass".

Re: good speakers?

i just got 4 pioneer tsa-1670r's installed in my car for 120. They are way cleaner, clearer, and louder than stock and when you turn them up they give good mids, i dont know about lows though. When i turn my deck up to 19 its loud enough for me, and it goes up to 20.. lol. But are you looking for lows or mids? If mids then go with pioneer..good on budget, if lows then add a sub.

Re: good speakers?

mids. Go CDT. Pimped out 4 lyf. You have noting on mids for budget even... Also, 19-20 shouldn't be that big of change. Are your gains set right? Make sure you aren't clipping those speakers. Taking power from the headunit, they are not meant to go to full volume on the unit.

Re: good speakers?

Heres my 2 cents. If you just want some more bass then go with an amplified bazooka tube. they give good bass depending on where you mount them but they wont shake your body panels off
