98 Eclipse GS Option packages

Does anyone on here remember or have a record of the available option packages that were available on Eclipse GS. The reason I ask is I want to know if my car has a keyless entry system. I know that there should be a green security light in the gauges for engine inmoblizer and security system, and I don't have that light so I'm assuming that I don't have the factory keyless entry system.
The reason I ask about the option package is I was looking on ebay today at eclipses and one guy had a picture of his window sticker. The sticker is for a 99 Eclipse GS spyder and one of the option packages was called Covience Package for $691 and it included Cruise control, HOMELNK and Security System with keyless entry/panic alarm.
I have an 98 GS coupe and I have cruise control and Homelink, so could it be possible that I also have the keyless entry/panic alarm?
I have tried locking my car and then unlocking it from the inside and open the door and nothing happened, so I don't think I have security system which is too bad. I really would like a keyless entry system but I don't have money right now for an aftermarket one, and I would really prefer an stock one anyway.
Any thoughts people? Thanks.

Re: 98 Eclipse GS Option packages

yeah ig uess you dont because the lil green light on my 96gs comes on if you like lock it fromt he inside as your getting out or something... i never payed attention to it untill one day for some reason a alarm i didnt know i had started going off on my car... lol.. luckily when u put the key in the door and turn it, it turns the alarm off. After i figured that out i bought a used remote off ebay, and programed it into my car. So I have keyless now and its great lol

The green security light disappears after a minute or so of the alarm being armed. Simply lock your door locks with the key, and check if the light is on or not.

The second thing that works, is to lower the windows, then exit the car and lock it with your key. Now, out your arm through the open window and open the lock from the inside. IF you have the alarm, it should go off.

So keyless entry is only bundled with the security system? I don't have the green light, and I've tried to open the door from the inside once its been locked and no alarm went off.

Damnnit, I want the factory keyless..

Hey Guys,

I am having a similar situation with my keyless entry for 96 GS Spyder. I just bought it from a private party and he had lost the original keyless remote but didn't show me any proof of that feature on the system. Could you tell me exactly where that green light is and how I should find out whether I have keyless and/or alarm. I have all power options except power seats installed but I am not sure whether this guarantee that keyless is installed as well. Please help.

Hi,

I have this. I actually activated the alarm with that when I lock the door and stay in the car for 30 seconds but still could not configure the keyless entry. By the way this is the exact same remote I got off eBay - part number GQ43VT6T. Does anyone knows how to program this thingy. I went to the dealer and they said they want 145 bucks to do it because the remote might not be compatible - aparently Mitsubishi produce 3 types of remotes - 70 bucks to check that one and 75 to program it if it is compatible. It is really a lot for that, can anyone give ma an advise on what I could do?
