i think the Pontiac Vibe looks better. Yo SCC reported that it weighs LESS than the Celica, that just seems so not right. Oh well, it doesnt look like. Guess ill have to wait and see how the GT matrix toyota is supposed to be building handles the grand touring races.

Not sure if you guys all saw it, but SCC started a project Matrix, dont have the specs but it runs a custom XS engineering turbo setup and a TECII ECU among other things.

the stock matrix is slow as hell on the straights. i guess it just lacks power. however, they said that it handles really well for a car shaped like that. even though its alot slower then it looks.

I was bored yesterday so I decided to stop by the Toyata dealer and check out the Matrix. they had a silver XRS model (FWD, Celica engine). came nicely loaded with 17s, full underbody spoiler kit, and bazooka subwoofer.

Exterior: I really like how this car looks, kinda like you mixed the Mazda P5 and Ford Focus. Only thing i didnt like was the taillights, a little too pink and too "altezzy" for me.

Interior: Well nice, being a 5 door there was plenty of room. Front seats feel very comparable to the Celica seats. The steering wheel is very nice as well as the shifter placement. Nice short and sturdy shifter (6 speed). Dash was very cool with the smoked gauge lenses, but when you start the car the red illuminated gauges lit up.

suspension: Not too shabby for factory ride, hit a few good dips in the road and didnt scrape the front spoiler

engine: Just like the celica when reving to redline, you drop out of the powerband when you shift. hell the salesman told me to dog the shit outta it nice acceleration and pretty good overall.

overall: I can say that I probably would be driving one right now, if the thought of a car payment didnt scare me. It is a very fun car to drive, yet it is practical for a man like me who has a family. I highly suggest if you are getting a new car in this price range ($21k) then give it a testdrive.
