Motor swap tips
Hey guys. As some of you know I will be shortly swapping from a smallblock to a bigblock in my 71 Nova. I have never actually pulled an engine out of a car before, or put a new one in. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a manual or something, or just give me some tips on how to install an engine (big thing to ask, I know). This is an old car with no computer things/sensors, so thats gonna be a big plus. What Im mainly asking is, Is it as straightforward as it seems? Disconect all the lines, unbolt tranny from motor/motor mounts/headers/ignition things, and pull the engine out? Im sure it is a little more indepth then that, but is that the basic gist of it? Any tips you guys can share is greatly appreciated. I realy wanna try to do this myself and save the 400-500 bucks local mechanics will charge. Thanks for any help.

yea its easy as hell... just make sure everything is unbolted and disconnected and start jackin.. lol

yeah like ridge said, thats pretty much it. on your car is shouldnt be anything more than un bolt and pull. when i blew my enging the last time, i came home and was so pissed that i just started riping it out right then and there. three hours later the front clip was off and the engine was on the stand.
now putting the big block in will probably be more of a task. especialy if your just planning on leaving the front end on. especialy when it comes to headers and making sure it clears things, sutch as power booster and the AC stuff if your car has it.

Make sure you dont forget any ground wires. They can sometimes hide pretty good. Look under the car if you have to.
