Problems w/BPV and sulfur exhaust smell

I have 2 concerns I need advice on. I don't know yet whether they are problems. Hopefully someone can help.

1 - What are the symptoms of a sticky or stuck closed BPV (blowoff valve). When my EVO was new I could hear a quiet whoosh when I let off the throttle, and it was really smooth. Now when I let off the throttle there is no sound and there seems to be more bucking/kickback. So what do you think?

2 - I have recently noticed a sulfur smell coming from the exhaust and maybe a little from the engine bay when hot. I have not noticed whether or not it only happens with certain types of gas. I know right now I can smell it and I am running Shell 93 VPower (in Michigan). Is this just the gas or is this a sign of something else wrong?

Thanks for any input you can give.

Re: Problems w/BPV and sulfur exhaust smell

i think the stock BOV is mostly plastic. my guess would be it's just worn out. i could be wrong but hey, now you've got a reso nto get a better, louder BOV.

as for the exhaust, i've got no idea. do you smell it i nthe car or on the outside? does it appear immediatly after startup or after the engine heats up? or just after hard driving? are you still running the stock cats or d oyou have high flow or DP installed?

edit: just noticed you've got the buscher exhaust, you might wanna check the gaskets and make sure everything is tightened up. the bolt might have rattled loose or something.

Did it stop maken that sound aftet you changed the exhaust? Because maybe less pressure after the stock exhaust was changed. Or maybe its that cheap plastic BOV, though I dougt its that. If you do want to upgrade it just tell me, my friends company sells great ones, for really good prices.

I noticed the sulfur smell from the exhaust with both the stock and the Buschur exhaust, when fully warm and at idling (like when I get out after driving and the turbo timer is counting down)

The problem with the BPV started before the Bushur exhaust was installed.

Thanks for the input!

hmmm, I dont know yet, I dont even own an Evo yet lol. Well, try taking it to the dealer, I'm sure they can figure it out. BTW, do you have any pics of your Evo, and what color is it?
