Thumbs down 99 Ford Taurus Power Steering Overheating?

Okay folks,
I really could use your help on this one. All of a sudden my power steering fluid was expanding? and spraying out of the cap on the fluid resevoir. Car runs fine until it "warmed up". Replaced PS pump twice....not the problem. Had to replace alternator and battery because they were shorted out by spraying fluid. Finally gave up, took car to shop. They replaced Dextron fluid (said ford book was wrong)with regular power steering fluid then "purged" the air out of the system. Charged me $251.00. The next day, as I was driving to work I again had problems...only this time, not only was fluid coming out of the cap....my Rack is leaking too. Haven't driven it since. Please Help!
Any Ideas?
Thanks
Mel

The Ford book wasn't wrong. You may need to replace your rack now. If the proper fluid is not put into the system it will disfigure the internal seals in the P/S system causing leaks and airation of the fluid. I don't believe that regular Mercon fluid has the strength to withstand the pressures of the P/S system. I use and think you should use Mercon V fluid in the P/S. I t is synthetic and has the strength to last. Good luck.
