1998 750iL Window Mechanism

Hello all:

I have a 1998 750iL which has been, for the most part, a very reliable car. This AM, I opened the drivers side window and near the end of the travel, it made a bit of a grinding noise. When I attempted to close it, it failed to raise more than a couple of inches, though I can hear the motor operating. Sounds like possibly some type of cable mechanism has fouled up. Has anyone out their taken off the door panel of one of these/ If so, any tips? Does anyone have details on how the window lifts in this car are confingured? Any reply would be appreciated!

time to replace the window regulator, its a pain on a 7 series.
