Question daewoo death

Have a friend who was killed when her 2000 Daewoo Nubira stalled on the open highway. Hit from behind on highway. Anyone out there have any similiar problems with sudden stalls. Just found out Camshaft Position Sensor was recalled, could a defective CMP cause a stall?? This car just shut down at 70mph. Car had its 40k service about 400 miles before stall. Not dealer serviced, just serviced through local shop. Need to hear from some people. Any info you could give would help.

If the sensor is defective and sends no pulse signal to the computer to regulate fuel then the computer module shuts the fuel off. Recalls have been issued about a number of things concerning stalling. I have a 2001 Nubira with no problems at all. However, I have received several recall notices in the mail. Problem is, there is no more Daewoo in the US. I had to find a former dealer who sold other makes and was still open for business to help me. Go to:www.daewoous.com. Click on service locater. Click your state, city, etc... til you find someone close by who can help you. Do not talk about lawsuits to whoever you get to help you. It will not be their fault. Even if you find a former dealer they will only refer you to Korea. But you might find a sympathetic ear out there who might just help you out. Check back on this forum after the holidays. I think I may have an 800 number for Daewoo that may still be good. There are lots of parts available, shops will service them, and I see a lot of them for sale & still running fine. My buddy at GM Detroit says that GM may buy the factory, retool, and start producing cars again. They bought Geo (which was Suzuki), retooled and now they're Chevy Metros. In 2005 they will become Aveo. So who knows for sure. I hope this helps. Sorry about your friend
