Oil Changes

my 04 has 6700 km on it, i went in the change the oil at 5000 km, and the dealer told me it was too soon and that i'd be wasting my money. he said the engine has to break in first. the book also says to wait till the light comes on. (5000-10,000 km) i've always changed my oil every 5000 km. did anyone else find this weird ?

Re: Oil Changes

I would say change it when the light comes on but since your truck is so new I would do it just in case there was any type of machining residue. The light can be easily reset when the oil is changed even if it hasn't gone off yet.
