2000 Accord Dark Project

Hey everyone,

I just bought a 2000 Honda Accord LX Coupe. It is hit in the front but it is being taken care of. I am looking to slightly modify it, unfortunately I dont have too much experience with modifications of a car, just the fixing aspect of it.

So, first off, the headlights were damaged so I need new ones. Now, I have had previous experience with these so called "projector" headlights on my 1994 Honda Accord, and basically they were shit. No power whatsoever and you needed to turn on the high beams to actually see where you are going at night. So I am wondering, besides the OEM headlights, are there any particular headlights that look nice and work well that I can buy besides the projector ones? (If you can, cite an example from eBay or something, thanks)

Next i'm looking to get some decent rims on it, probably 17's, not trying to get too crazy with the rims, but even with the bigger rims/tires there will probably be too big of a gap in the wheelwells and I was wondering if one of the spring/coilover kits on ebay such as this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...921440559&rd=1
are garbage and no point in buying them or are they decent and wont break down on me? I am looking to do some other slight mods, and if you have any tips or websites that deal with 98-02 accord coupes with information/instructions or anything like that would be of major help. Thanks much everyone.

I bought some of those $80 Buy It Now coilovers on Ebay and that had to be the worst money ever spent!!! I wouldnt recommend them to anybody. I ended up paying twice for installation because I paid to get the pieces of shit put on, then off and some nice stuff put on later. Just spend the money for some quality stuff now and you'll save yourself a lot of headaches in the future - Carlos

Re: 2000 Accord Dark Project

Why? Whats wrong with the 80 dollar coilovers? They just really suck in terms of ride quality or what? Also how much are good ones and the only good ones I know is Tein but those run like 400+ I dont think i can afford that..

Re: 2000 Accord Dark Project

i was thinking about getting some coilovers from ebay then slapping them on my ride. however a couple of friends of mine that work in a body shop told me to just spend the money to buy full suspension kits. he told me that just buying the coilovers and slamming your car will look cool but youll start hating it because of the very VERY poor ride quality. plus, he said that sometimes youll never be happy at what height your car is at. advice he gave me was to just go ahead to save and spend the money on quality parts. like tein or apexi. im thinking about gettin the WS apexi dampening kit. comes with coilover and struts.

yeah, i was just talking about ride quality. If you only want the look and are willing to sacrifice most of your comfort then go ahead and buy those $80 Ebay stuff. But after awhile it gets real annoying like 5thGen said. - Carlos ALSO hey 5thGEN, can you look at my post and give me your opinion on something seeing as you have a kit on your accord? Thanks man.

Re: 2000 Accord Dark Project

Well you see this accord is not one that i'm going to be hooking up completely... I just want it lowered a bit, i'm putting some nicer rims on there and a few other things... when I get a V6 fully loaded coupe... then i'll think about hooking it up with quality parts.

In any case i'll just buy them, and we'll see for now, later on i'll get better quality parts.

Now moving on, what about the headlights? I found some ones that look like factory, except they dont have the orange and whatnot, now i'm wondering do these use the factory bulbs, and are they decent quality/provide good lighting or are they as crappy as those projectors?

Those particular lights should use all of the same bulbs as stock...also keep in mind that not only are they missing the orange but they are "JDM" style so they have a black chrome interior instead of silver

Re: 2000 Accord Dark Project

Since my accord is black, do you think it would look better to get the silver ones that are like that or the black ones?
