1986 High sierra wiring problems

I am trying to find if anyone can help me out here. I have a 1986 High Sierra truck that the guy I bought it off of messed up the wiring on. He was installing a different tranny caught the main coil wire between the bell housing and the tub. Caused alot of smoke he said but no burnt wires. Now I have traced about every wire I can think of and there is no wire looking messed up. I have no brake lights no turn signals no key ignition no wipers and no heater I think ( its warm here dont need it yet) , I rigged a simple kill switch and push button start to get her home. Now I have brake lights long enough to blow the fuse if I take a jumper from battery to brake light switch. Thought maybe the problem was in the steering column but I have no idea and looking for advise before I tear to deep into it. Fuse panel shows no signs of being melted either. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks in advance
