2000 Blazer Third Brake Light
My 2000 Blazer 4 door LS third brake light LED strip wont light up. Now the physical Strip is ok, i tested it with a 12 volt source. And the fuses are fine for the VECHCHMSL (Vehicle Center high mounted stop light). So what else could be the problem? Feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] .. Thanks alot guys

Re: 2000 Blazer Third Brake Light
Are the rest of your brake lights working? Do you have power going through the fuse? Do you have power at the socket where the VECHCHMSL plugs in when you step on the brake pedal? If the answer is yes and then no respectively, maybe somewhere in-between the fuse and the socket, the wire may be cut or disconnected.

Re: 2000 Blazer Third Brake Light
Your going to need a Multi-tester or at very least a test light. Both are available at most parts stores for under $10 USD. The Multi-tester is basically an electrial test meter, and a test light looks like a screwdriver or an ice pick with a light bulb in the handle with wire lead coming out of the back. The wire lead will have an alligator clip on the end. Also according to my manual the VECHMSL should have a ground wire. Make sure you don't have a bad ground connection.

There is an active recall from GM. Check with your dealer.

I have the same problem in my 1995 GMC Jimmy (4 door 4WD SLT). The center high mounted brake light won't work, but the other brake lights, including the lines in the tow harness, work fine. I used a multi-tester and found that there is no power coming to the bulb, but the fuse is fine. Is there any other place I can check for a faulty connection? What about the brake pedal switch? Is this something I should look at, and if so, where do I find it? Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
