'96 Taurus, Windshield wiper operates incorrectly or intermittently
I own a '96 Taurus. I've had problems with my windshield wiper operation. I changed the multifunction switch and it didn't fix the problem. I changed the GEM and it fixed the problem. However, that was about 6 months ago. Now, my wipers are not working again. Should I change out the GEM again, or does someone know of some other component that could be causing the GEM to go bad. I don't want to replace the GEM every 6 months. Any insight is greatly appreciated.
I replaced the GEM which I purchased at a junkyard for 25 bucks. It worked. I've been told by electronics persons that possibly the reason the GEM's go bad is that they can not handle the current loads imposed by the vehicle. I'm gonna take the bad GEM and see if someone can figure out why its going bad. Since this affects windshield wiper functions, there is a safety issue that FORD should correct. Recall ?!?
