whats wrong

hi guys. I have an 88 2.5 8v, and this morning i went to it as normal and started it up, the car fired into life and then settled down to a nice idle as it always does, then it started to missfire, but not just on one cylinder at one time, it sounded like it was missfiring on every cylinder at different times? then when i reved it, it was still missfiring then went ok and back to normal?. So i started to drive off to work then it started again, then i got to the bottom of the road and it went that bad that i couldn't even move the car then it cut out on me, started it back up and it was still doing it then it just went back to normal, by this stage tho i thought its better to take it home and take another car. Got home from work and went to it, it wouldn't start? so i tried it a few times then it started again, but was missfiring, and then went back to normal for about 20minutes whilst it was parked up then i reved it once and it was back with the missfire again. anybody have any idea's? checked s/plugs dizzy cap and rotor arm. thanks guys.

Re: whats wrong

What was wrong? My car did that a while ago during left hand turns. A few times it would misfire, sometimes stumble, the last time it just plain died. I tracked it down to a defecting ignition switch.
