R.I.P. STi

I'm on my way to work last Thursday and there is an STi infront of me. We both turn right onto a long two-lane road which turns into another road by way of a hairpin turn. I end up blowing past him when I'm not even half way down the road. I guess this pissed the guy off... 'cause the next thing I know he goes flying past me while I'm in the "brake zone" for the upcoming hairpin.

I'm thinking... "Wow... those things must handle far better than I thought... this is going to be awesome watching him fly into this turn..."

Next thing I know as I'm turning into the hairpin, I hear his tires screeching like mad... and I know he's in trouble. I could only see a little out of the corner of my eye as I completed the turn. I straighten my car out and look in my rear view mirror... to see a bunch of dirt in the air and his entire front of his car smashed up 'cause he went over a cement curb.

At this point my heart is racing and I'm hoping the guy is okay... but I don't go back. I saw him get out of the car and just kinda being generally pissed off...

I don't understand why people get so upset when it comes to racing... sure I had him on the straight... but had he drove even "normal" I'm positive he could have out-cornered my 40 year old car.

R.I.P. STi

Re: R.I.P. STi

ive heard a few stories like that before. . . its so sad. . . i had something similar happen to me the other night, i raced this riced out galant, and easily beat him, i had to stop at 60mph cause we were driving right past a spot where cops like to sit, but i had a car length on him. Next thing i know he flies by me still going full throttle, he prolly finally stopped closer to 100mph, lucky for him their werent any turns coming up, but i mean really whats the point of doing that?

Well yeah... it's kinda funny how the guy totally overestimated his own car... to top it off the guy was at least in his 40's with silver dyed hair... so that was kinda funny too.

The all-too-classic "Ricer fly-by". This is how ricers can drive STis and still be ricers. Its all about attitude.

Re: R.I.P. STi

my dad did something similar in his car, some guys were tailing him and he took a banked turn really fast, and sped off, the guys took it too sharp and ended up in the ditch, got out and were pissed as hell, it was hilarious though and served them right! there wasn't a curb it just kinda drops off on the inside of the turn into a small ditch

Crazy you should mention this! I was driving home today down Highway 14 in Washington and this 2000 STi spun out of control and slammed into the median.

I was just pickin up my bro from his football game and the car was like 2-3 cars ahead of me. My bro said to turn off and help the guy out, so I pull off along next to him and give my bro my cell and tell him to call 911. I walk up to the guy, and he's just sitting in it with the front end just crumpled.

I ask if he is ok, and he says..."my parents are gonna f***in kill me..." He started crying right there hah...felt bad for the guy.

Re: R.I.P. STi

Sounds like typical understeer off corner exit, and he ran out of road on the exit. Yet another reason why people who don't know what they're doing shouldn't be driving these cars.

The stock tires are loud, and will squeel on hard cornering. The fact that teh tires were squeeling alone isn't really a sign that he lost it, but the fact that he entered the corner WAY too fast was.

Oh yeah, dibs on the clutch, transmission, and wheels.

Re: R.I.P. STi

I would just be grateful he didn't take you out.

Three times I have had people try to follow me into exit ramp on highways and leave the road.
One of them was in a box truck! ... what were they thinking?
