Hey guys, I went to the Autozone yesterday to get a service engine light checked out, and they ran the machine on it and found out that there was a misfire in the 5th cylinder I think he said. A couple questions. 1. Is this a big problem? 2. What would be needed to fix it? 3. What would cause something like this?
Thanks guys. |

Re: 97 Service Engine
A misfire could trigger the cars computer on initial start up. Run it for a few days and see if it comes back. You might also want to check the plug wire goin to #5 cylinder along with pulling the spark plug to make sure it is alright. good luck

if this is the 3100 engine, take it in to a shop and get the injectors cleaned...stuff you dump in the tank wont do it. The other post about a plug and wire is good also. Check these first.

1997 Lumina - Service Engine Light Flashing
I bought a Used 1997 Lumina in August 2004. It was serviced and emission tested the day I bought it.
The problem started with the car vibrating. Then I noticed that the Service Engine Light was flashing. This happened 2 days running. Can someone help please??? Has this happened to anyone before? What is the cause and the solution? |
