Trouble w/ Ram Air hood installation

I went to install my newly purchased Ram Air hood on my '90 GTA and it won't fit properly. It bolts on but when you go to shut it it won't go down all the way. We looked at it and noticed the the underside nearest the winshield was hitting the filter around the wipers so we took that off and tried again but it still hits the metal ledge coming off of the winshield. Has anyone else had this problem and wat did you do to fix it? Please help A.S.A.P. Paint is coming soon and need hood on at paint time.
