My Car Schreaches
I Own a 1998 Red Mitsubishi 3000GT SL (Automatic ><). The car has 56,000 miles on it and has not had the 60k service performed on it. When i accelerate fast and reach about 5000 rpm's, my car screaches for about two seconds. All i know is it doesnt sound good and it comes from the front of the car (engine duh). Just wondering if anybody else has had the same problem or knows what it might be. Thanks.

my sisters had a small oil leak in the camshaft and when she would accelerate hard the pressure would spill the oil onto the belt causing it to slip. but yeah man that sqeal is comming from one of the belts.

Re: My Car Schreaches
I had somewhat of a similar problem with my AC belt. When I had my AC on, it'll start squeaking and when I stepped on the gas, it squeaked even louder. I had it changed and it's ok now. My belt was old and "cracking" even if it didn't look too bad. Try spraying some WD-40 on 'em and if they stop squeaking for a bit then it probably is one of the belts. My belts were located on the right side of my engine...but I have a '94 SL so I don't know if it's located at the same place as yours. Good luck.

the belts are on the driver side of the engine. pop the hood and you will see the belts between the motor and the sidewall. jack up the car. remove the driver-front tire. remove the plastic splash-guard. the belt tensioners will be right behind the splash guard. tension then up or down to tighten/ loosen. its easy.
