Exclamation BIGASS strange (and scary) lookin spider!!

Never seen a spider look like this before, bitch looks scary. Look at the second picture, look how big the fangs are (kind of hard b/c it's blurry). Those fangs look vicious. This was on the inside frame of my door (behind the glass), I was walkin by and I saw it. I took some pics, and decided to chase it away incase it got in the house. So there really was no way I could get in the inside of that frame b/c it is a very small space. So I used my jet-flame lighter (it's like a lil flame thrower):

So I lit it, and got it between the frame. It burned the spider a lil bit, it fell to the ground and just stood still. Wasn't sure if it was dead or not, and looked around for something to smash it. Couldn't find anything, so I tried to burn it again. The bitch can actually hop!! It hopped like half an inch above the ground and almost got right on my hand! The thing was lightning fast, ran for about a foot (took it like a millisecond) and it just stayed still again. Not wanting to take my chances of burnin it again and gettin bit with venom, I just hosed it out of my walk-way. So that spider is probably back near my door again, waiting...

So does anyone know what kind of a spider this is? Never ever seen this spider before, and looks nothing like the ones I've seen before.

lol b/c that thing was lightning fast, if I missed. It could crawl right up my leg, and bite the shit out of me. Yea that thing is huge, and taken at actual size. So imagine that pic on your computer screen right now.

Re: BIGASS strange (and scary) lookin spider!!

Thats just a big old wolf spider. Probably a Carolina Wolf Spider looking for a place to stay sheltered now that it's getting cooler. They look scary, but they are harmless- unless you're a cricket...

that place isn't goin to find my house as shelter! Do they bite humans at all? They got a nice big set of fangs there.

EDIT: Did some research, they are not wolf spiders.

Carolina wolf spider:

Re: BIGASS strange (and scary) lookin spider!!

Yeah- not a Carolina Wolf. It's definitely a wolf spider species of some sort, though- they do that "leg thing" where it looks like 4 large ones instead of 8. They like to squeeze into cozy areas when the weather starts changing, too. See if you can find pics of other WS species in your area...I'll look through some of my Entymology books. They may bite if you fuck with them enough, but not that painful or poisonous. You have way more dangerous spiders than this guy in Virginia.

Re: BIGASS strange (and scary) lookin spider!!

you got it blindside! thanks for the find

" In escaping predators they may very well jump a distance of five or six inches"

HOLY SHIT! that could have easily jumped on my hand, I would have been scared shitless. I just showed my cousins (they got a serious case of arachnaphobia) They were scared shitless from just the picture itself . They closed it right away and now searchin their rooms for any spiders
