Registration for an SR20 240

I know that the SR20DET is illegal in California but I have seen a ton of people with them in their cars.
I was wondering if anyone knew how these people got registration for their car and past the smog test?

Thanks for the help

a lot of them either swap in the sr20 right after registration, or for regristration/visual check mandated by police officer they put the KA back in, show them everything is good, leave, swap back in the SR, and have a good day....

Hmm, problem is that I was planning on getting just the body for my project so it wouldn't be able to run until I made the swap.

pay the smog guy off....find a reliable guy who would do it. most of the time it is like 400 bucks or more. It is illegal too to pay the guy off just incase you didn't know....

Good luck finding some one to look the other way even for that much, the fine keeps getting raised, it's like $150,000 + lose smog license. Fewer and fewer people are willing to it now =(
