Question Clutch info needed plz??

I got my first car about a month ago...its a 2001 Black Civic EX 5 speed 70K miles....how long does the clutch on a civic last for approximately...and when the clutch needs to be replaced...is it real obvious...is the car even drivable???

Thank You !

Re: Clutch info needed plz??

As I'm sure the other people who reply will agree, it's all in how you drive it. I've got a '97 w/ 130,000 miles on the original clutch. I can hear a tiny buzzing in 5th gear, letting me know that one (or more) of the teeth is bent, but it still runs fine until I get around to dropping a few hundred bucks on a new one.
Unless your car was driven REALLY hard, you should have a lot of life left in that clutch.

You should not need to replace it. You will deffinitly feel it start to slip and not grip when you go to shift gears. But yea man you'll kno. Good luck!

Oh, and I should mention that I started learning to drive stick as I drove it off the lot brand new, so I wasn't too easy on it myself.

When you have "high" clutch - it's time to replace it.

I learned to drive my first car in a toyota 4runner. Man, stalling on that thing is a bitch, having that truck jump up and down like a wild mustang. So much pain on the clutch when I was first learning I would let go of the clutch wayyy too slowly. It was an 89 and was still on its original clutch.
