Hello,
I have AUDI A4, 1996, 2.8, Quattro. I cannot drive in position D - clutch does not get engaged so the car does not move. However, I can start with second gear (pos.2). Once the car starts to move, I can shift to D and drive as normal. If the car stops, I have to start with second gear again. Would do appreciate any idea and suggestions |

Well I let the guy at AAMCO transmissions drive it, and he said it was something internal, and they wanted $2800 to rebuild it, maybe more! Nope, screw a rebuilt transmission, theres a good chance it would have to be rebuilt the 2nd time once that thing is opened up. So I got a used tranny with 81k miles from a 98 audi that got T-boned at a salvage yard locally for $1300. Im not going to pay someone to install it, i dont trust too many people (they dont care its not theirs), we have a shop behind the house, I have a long weekend ahead of me. Wish me Luck! If anybody knows any websites that have some detailed instructions/pics on transmission R&R, those would be great! Thanks
