Stuck Lug Nuts HELP!

Ok i have Konig rims that require small diameter lugs. The set of lugs that came with the wheels are lugs that require a big allen wrench socket. Well i realized the lugs sucked b/c where the allen wrench goes in is also where the stud is which gives me very little room to stick the allen wrench looking socket to loosen/tighten the lugs. Anyway the first time i was tightened them the allen socket began to strip. So i went and bought some gorilla grip kind and in the process i only managed to change half of them before the allen socket stripped. So i went and bought a really big allen wrench at sears and then i used that to take off the left over lugs except for 3 b/c it was on so tight and then the lugs started to strip a lil bit. So now the lugs are on really tight and the lug is apparently a little strip so i cant get them off. I am wondering how i can get those lugs off so i can put better ones on? thanx.

Re: Stuck Lug Nuts HELP!

oh man....my brother had the same problems with his set of Motegi's on his Lancer.....from what i know he had to get them torched off. not sure if there is any other way of solving this problem, but he had his done at PepBoys, they torched them off and he was set to go. not sure if he had to replace the studs afterwards though...i will ask him and get back to you on that.

Re: Stuck Lug Nuts HELP!

Well... obviously the only part i had to replace was the 3 crappy lug nuts. Well me and my friend/co-worker/mechanic first tried using this kit that can usually break off lug nuts. Well what we realized is that this kit is kinda useless with these lugs we were trying to take off. Not even sure it can be used to get of small diameter lugs. So i guess if u no like get your rims stolen then get rims that require small diameter lugs. Anyway so what he did was teach me his "ol' school" trick of using a socket. Keep in mind that my lugs that were stuck required a huge allen wrench. So what we did was match a socket that was slightly bigger than the lug and hammer that socket over the lug. The points or teeth on the socket dug into the lug and acted as grip. Then we just get a breaker bar or whatever and unscrewed the lugs off. Kinda messed up the socket and didnt think the same socket could last 3 lugs but it did thankfully. So yea... if u plan to do this and it happens to all ur lugs... then buy the same socket for all 4 wheels haha.

I got a stuck one off the same way. Bang that socket on there and it bites right into the lug nut. With a long breaker bar there is no way that lug nut is not coming off.

Re: Stuck Lug Nuts HELP!

Aren't they supposed to give you guys an adapter thing to fit regular cross bars. and since they suck just buy cheap gorilla lugs from ebay for $20 if you don't want to buy expensive ones
