cars finally lowered but now it wont run!

I went over my friends house at 3 today and he was gonna help me lower my car. We finished putting the coilovers on and theyre adjusted almost all the way down but the front only looks like 2 inches at most lowered and the back is only tucking a lil (i have 170/85's on the back which came with the car). So we were like wtf maybe they just need to settle, but I let him drive to auto zone and returned the compressor. Then I bought dinner as a thanks. But when we were pullin into Central Park (humungous shopping center in fredericksburg) it was kinda bucking a lil in 1st so i put it in 2nd and remembered i forgot to put the fuel return line back on the strut tower (i just moved it outta the way, and i think it may have pinched a lil). So I was like ahh i just put it back when we get to quiznos. Luckily the first 3 lights through Central Park were green so i drove right through them. At the light where i was supposed to make a U-turn at to get to Quiznos it bogged down really bad after bucking a few times and kept getting slower and slower and eventually I had to put on my hazards and then it died. A few people helped us push it into the parking lot (it died on the road in front of Quiznos) We went in bc it wouldnt start (main relay problem even though i replaced it) then i went out and tried to start it after I ordered my food and it started but had a low pulsing idle and it wouldnt rev over 2k which took forever to get to and then it would bog down and down and down til it died (with my foot on the gas). After we ate I restarted it and it idled perfect for like 10 secs and started it again and did every time we got it started again for another 1/2 hour where we gave up. (A friend saw us and gave us a ride to my friends house that helped me lower it and then my friend gave me a ride home. So now my car is sitting in front of Quiznos. My friends think its eityher the fuel filter is clogged, fuel pump may be dead or the fpr is gone. I have over 1/4 of a tank of good gas so its not the gas. I dont even know what to do. If you guys could offer up some advice I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

firewall, passengers side. What kind of coilovers did you get? Do like I did and take the coilover part off and just put the springs in it, they do take a while to settle though.

Re: cars finally lowered but now it wont run!

its this little can thing that looks almost similar to an oil filter. its found on the firewall on the passenger side of ur car...u really cant miss it...u'll see fuel lines come to and away from it. if urs is really old, expect it to look like super old bare metal with tons of blemishes on it. i suggest u go to ur auto parts store and get urself a fuel filter (i think they're like 20 bucks) and take it out of the box and take a look at it and u'll find ur original fuel filter in a snap after comparing the shape.

when i changed my fuel filter i noticed a bigggg difference....my car would accelerate smoother especially in the lower rpms as a result of constant fuel.

loosen the service bolt on the top of it to release pressure, its on the top of one of the banjo fittings. One of the fuel lines is a bitch to get off also, its like round and flat on two sides, have to use a 19mm wrench on it I believe, been a while.

Yeah, do -^- Also, check all electrical lines and grounds. Make sure main relay is connected good and tight. Mine came loose and car had trouble starting... but cleaned mine and tightened up, reset ECU, and strangely enough it took until later on for it to cool off and it started right up and has ever since. Re: cars finally lowered but now it wont run!

ok i saw the fuel filter but i was like nah thats something else bc the service manual i have (haynes I think) said it was under the car inside this little holder thing and i searched for a lil while and found nothing. So ill go and replace it tomorrow after i lift weights with my friend. But i dont think its the filter bc i checked to see if the pump kicked on when i turned on the key like 4 or 5 times and i didnt hear it. I think its the pump damnit. 104$. I spent about $130 in tools and a new jack and some jackstands and some other stuff for my car today. So now i have a toolbox full of stanley tools that ill be able to use and a bunch of other stuff. I also put back in my old main relay to see if that would help and its the same effects as the day before except it only started like 4 times and died instantly. So it is a fuel problem. But im gonna get an extra spark plug just incase its a spark problem and ill check it with this trick some old dude showed me today. Im just hoping its a simple problem.

I have Dropzone coilovers that i got on ebay for $100 shipped and the ride is really nice and i like how its a lil bouncy. Of couse it only lasted for 20 mins before this happened.

oh yeah i forgot to mention when we took the tires off I had wear marks on my tires like my car was lowered before without a camber kit, but it wasnt too obvious, I never noticed it before.

Re: cars finally lowered but now it wont run!

ok i went to work on my car today, changed the fuel filter and had plenty of pressure in the lines but the filter was corrupted anyways so it needed to be changed. then i went back to my car when i was on my lunch break and my friend drove by and saw me so we took out the back seats to listen for the pump. It kicked on so obviously it works. Last thing is spark. Gonna check spark and fuses tomorrow before i get it towed. I hope its just a blown fuse. I dont wanna fork over the money for a new distributor.

Re: cars finally lowered but now it wont run!

alright i checked for spark and i got it. The computer works (light blinked when i turned it to on). What else could it be? Someone told me that my catalytic converter could be clogged, should i check that? But it would still start if it was right, just run like shit? I'm clueless...

yea it should start, did u fix that fuel line that you moved? the one u think was pinched??

maybe a bad injector? and also try tossin a bit more gas in and see if it helps any, ur gas gauge might be off and u could be really empty

nah the fuel line wasnt really pinched, i had just moved its bracket off of the strut and thought id pinched it. I dont think it can be a bad injector bc i can smell plenty of gas in the intake. I have plenty of gas too bc it just keeps spraying gas into the intake. I dont know what the problem is. My friends dad said my timing belt may have slipped or lost a couple teeth. So im gonna check that tomorrow when i have light, and i just thought about it, maybe my negative battery cable was loose or something. Its on the battery, but it may not be grounded, ill have to check. But, i dont know what else to check besides that. I had to pay $69 to tow it to my house, and the people who towed it also have a junkyard and i went over there to talk to one of the guys i know and he was asking where it got towed from. He said the owner of the property called him to have him tow the car a day later if it was still there. Im glad i towed it before he did lol. But im stumped on what it could be.
