service question

hello everyone
i was wondering if anyone knew the service schedule on these cars.
my 2002 gt just hit 30k. is it time for a plug change or wire? i hear newer cars can go longer than older ones but am not sure on the general tune up rules.. im new to these General motors cars and these v-6 front wheel drive machines. im used to my rear drive v-8 fords.
so if any one has suggestions on when to change what or what parts need changed at certain miles (even if not bad, but just good idea to anyway) let me know i like this car and want her to last along time.
thanks all

Re: service question

Refer to the owners manual for a repair schedule. As for plugs and wires, don't worry about them for quite a while. If you are used to V-8 Fords, GM cars are usually on the same schedules as far as tune-ups. Depending on the car some don't require a tune-up for 100k miles. I would never wait that long but it is not unheard of. I would change the air filter every 10 to 15k miles depending on driving conditions. Oil changes are usually 3k-5k miles depending on how you use the car. 3000 miles is standard but most mfg. recommendations are 7500 which is too far on an oil change. If you have a problem and the check engine light comes on take it to a dealer or qualified mechanic and get the computer scanned. This will tell you what is wrong and get it fixed asap. I have had both makes and have had no real problems with either make. Just do normal maintenance and you should be happy for many miles. One last thing, keep an eye on the front brake pads. They are usually good for about 45k depending on how hard you use your brakes. Just keep tabs on them so you don't ruin the rotors. Happy motoring!

Re: service question

If you are looking for your manuals, there's one on Ebay. The guy wants $8.00, new. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=7920801609
