My right front speaker on my '91 Buick LeSabre has been cracking and snapping whenever the radio is on, reguardless of the volume I have the radio at. I've checked the fuses. What else could this be?

Re: loud crackling in speaker
Did you check if it was blown? I wouldn't think it was the actual radio reciever because all the speakers would have that crackle.

Re: loud crackling in speaker
the fuse was not blown. it seems to come and go, too, like when I'm going over bumps.

Re: loud crackling in speaker
Loose connection in the wiring, perhaps?

Re: loud crackling in speaker
I personally have no idea - never worked with the audio in cars before. Having said that, I did have the same issue with my computer speakers - they would start "buzzing" the minute you turned them on, and you'd have to whack them a few times to shut them up. Turned out that was the wiring, so I thought it worthwhile to mention.

Re: loud crackling in speaker
Try stopping at a sound system shop and ask the people that deal with it every day, maybey even stop at a couple of them, some are realy honest.
