Twin Turbo B18 C5??!!??!!

yes thats right B18 C5

i have untill friday night to finish 2 model cars, that i hope to enter into a local model car contest, both of them are civics i had a progress thread a while back but i never opdated and the cars have since gone in the opposite direction.

i dont have much time to type right now, but will do a lot more later, but in short, one of the cars is gonna have a B18C5 fromt he revell ITR and has been twin turboed, using the turbos from the Tamiya Supra TT

it hasnt been cleaned up yet, but this is the general idea

any ideas, comments, suggestions welcomed. and incase youre wondering, im entering my Eclipse in high hopes of wining some thing

Re: Twin Turbo B18 C5??!!??!!

thats cool but a twin isnt going to make much of a difference if it were a real engine.

BTW what did you use to make your pipes to the intercooler? it looks a little funny, they look burnt.

i suggest using chrome parts tree and heating it with a black light bulb, then bending it..youll keep the chrome look.

Sweet. But, what's it going in? Or fit in for that matter?

never heard of that idea, ill try it

ive been haeting parts trees over a candle for the past 2 years to make pipes and stuff, so if your idea works i will be pretty grateful

the engine is going into a civic.
I will not post pictures of the extreior of the car till its completed, but i will keep some progress going on the engine

I have seen one civic Twin Turbo before, using Supra turbos almost identical to my set up, tho i think he had a B16 instead of B18

If i cant have this all put together in time for that show then i will just keep the car engineless untill after the show.

I didnt think a 1.6litre could turn two turbos, well I suppose if they were real small. Eh, your definetly gona have some work fitting that into a civic, good luck.

yeah the turbos on a supra are T12s if im not mistaken, maybe T11s, its on cardomain, tho it only has a 4 star rating, ill go looking for it in a few minutes. the thing is a beast though

yes the fitment will be tight, but hey, nothing better then when its tight and wet

hahah i hope my model isnt wet

paint fumes must be getting to me.

I thought the same, no fun being made here.

All that work for just 260 or so hp? You could make an all motor 1.8 run 260 no sweat. But whatever - its gonna me neat either way. I foresee some real trouble getting that thing in the engine bay, though, the pipes stick out rather far, don't they?

just a tad, but since i got that tip about heating the pipes with a light bulb, im redoing the pipes, so they will be shorter.

yes 260 isnt much, but after searching for that car on Yahoo, and google, i only came across one other TT civic, and it was one of those ugly 88 body style ones.

but still neat none the less

Re: Twin Turbo B18 C5??!!??!!

they probably used the b16 because a b18c1 and b18c5 (b18c and b18c-r - JDM) are made to be all out all motor engines; ie. 11:1 compression ratio. the b16 has a 10:1 or 10.5:1 ratio. thats y its more common to find LS/VTEC frankenstein motors with LS block, b16 pistons and b16 heads. thats what im gonna do in real life and turbo it.

anyway, gettin back on topic, looks like its coming out good. it would be better if u connected each turbo to 2 ports but as u said ur constricted on time, so it looks like it would work. good luck with the contest. btw dont keep the chrome valve cover. lol.

T12, CT12b, not too much difference eh?
i dont know too much abotu the sizes of turbos, tho i do know how they work, just like my brothers friends supra that has a single Sp56 or some thing like that, i usually just call it T56 for short since i cant remember the 4000 letters that follow it

idk what color that valve cover will be, im thinking about the color of the car, tho im not sure. maybe chrome sorry Kasso

today after school and thursday after school are about the only days im gonna have time to really work on models, so im hoping to get every thing close to a point to be completed today, ill have more pics of the engine later today.
