02 limited VSC lights

I have been reading through some of the posts regarding the VSC lights and Cat replacement. That is what I am being told is that my cat is going out, not sure how the traction control has anything to do with the Cat.
But what I am looking for is any definite information on this, toyotamdt noted the MAF sensor could be the culprit, is the solution to take it out and clean it?
and also noted that you can reset the lights by pulling a fuse? is this correct, I have to pay 26 bucks everytime this happens...
any help would be greatly appreciated since I am a cheap ass at heart..
