Unhappy need help,,inspection needed

i have 99 silverado and the inspection is out on it ,heres the problem when i go to honk the horn in the inside it dosent work, but when i hit the panic button on my remote it starts honking, but sometime after i do that the steering wheel horn works only sometimes,,thats my problem need help thanks

Go under the hood on the driver side in the ELectrical Center. Check the Horn relay and fuses. This will most often be the problem. If the relay is not clicking when you blow the horn, tap on it, or replace it with another one in the cluster to see if it is faulty.

horn

hey jeverett i checked the fuse and the horn relay but nothing,do you know how hard it is to get in the steering wheel to see if theres a bad connection or something wrong,all i see is like 2 screws at the back of the steering wheel would you know how to get in there,,thanks for any info,,, this thing is driving me crazy

it worked

hey jeverett i whent back out side after posting my last post and started messing with the horn relay ,tapping it,i guess that helped because it honks know,i realy didnt want to mess with opening the steering wheel whith my luck it problably would have blew up in my face.well thank for the help,,

I think all you have to do is pull on the cover in the middle of the steering wheel to get it to come off, but I've never removed mine. You might also want to try removing the relay and spraying some contact cleaner in the contact areas. If it keeps sticking, I'd replace it with a new one, they don't cost much at all. If you want it to blow just for inspection purposes, take one of the relays out of the box (say the DRL relay if they are not mandatory to pass inspection) and put it where the horn relay is until the inspectino is over. That way you'll be sure that the horn will blow. Good luck
