Rear Brake noise

Has anyone had rear brake noise on 2002 elantra?
I am having all kinds of trouble. Making a sqeeking noice then a thumping noise and now seems like it is grabbing.

Took to the dealership and the first time they charged me 30 bucks to have the brakes cleaned and adjusted.
Second time I took it they said that my rotors slipped and they cleaned and adjusted at no cost.
Still making noise. I never heard of a rotor slipping. So I made another appointment to have looked at because it is getting worse and they can't get me in for 2 weeks.

Any thoughts?

afew questions in 2002 the elantra had rear drum or disc , what do you have in your vechicle

there are 2 things that come to mind
1) Is the noise like a clicking noise when the vechicle has been driven for awile during moderate brake apply . The part number in the drum may be contacting the lining . when they pull the drum off have them look at the writing on the inside of the drum to see if there is and contact marks seen

2) or a one time clunk when you reach the end of a stop . Again this is in a drum brake setup . The wheel cylinders mat be sticking and then when enoght force is applied to the brakes it brakes free and make this noise .

i havent seen much noise from the rear disc setup

Well, took car to the dealership today for the noise in the rear brakes. The person that helped me at the counter said that he heard the noise while pulling into the garage. They could find nothing wrong with it. They cleaned and adjusted the brakes AGAIN. He says that some cars just make noises and there was nothing that they can do. He also suggested that when the noise happens, I should call and make an appointment for them to clean and adjust the breaks but they would have to charge me for that. Today, they didn't. He almost guarenteed me that I would not hear the noise again. Well, wouldn't you know about an hour after I left the garage, the noise started.

Does anyone have any numbers to get a hold of a representative on the east coast for Hyundai??

Glad I'm not alone.. Same noise.. they charged me $35 and the noise was back within a day or two, but they also added a rubbing noise free of charge. I'm assuming they roughed up the surface of the brake linings, since that's easing up a bit.
I"ve also had some problems.. Usually change my own oil, but had it in for a minor warranty problem(light switch) and had them do it. I always mark date and mileage on oil filters when I change my own. Next time after they did it, guess what I found on my filter? My own writing. No way to prove they stiffed me, but certainly has caused a lack of confidence in their integrity. Also had a problem with auto trans. SHifts up and down erratically (lock up going in and out) at highway speeds, and sometimes rams into third even when going down hills at 65 with foot off the gas. They checked it, and said they "topped off" the fluid, which was strange since they recently changed the fluid and filter at 30,000 mile checkup. I guess warranty's only as good as the people servicing your vehicle. Thinking about unloading it before something major goes wrong. Don't like to think about them tinkering inside my engine, etc.
