A great way to stop rust at wheel wells & doors!

Sounds logical to me anyway.

Wheel wells.

You've the seen them on the road...maybe you own one...a Honda with rust behind the rear wheels. There's a simple and easy way to prevent this from happening and/or to stop the current rust from getting larger.

First: On the lip above the rear wheel is a rubber strip. . .pull this off; it allows moisture and debris to be caught in the seam between the quarter panel and the inner wheel well. You want this seam to be able to dry out. At the garage, we call these rubber strips "rust strips" because they cause rust.

Second: Go inside the trunk and pull the side panels back so that you can see the inside of the quarter panel. Take an oil can with motor oil and shoot the same seam (listed in step one) from the inside of the car with oil. The oil should drip out on the floor in front of the wheel if you got it good, so put some paper down. I f you can see visible rust inside the quarter panel, soak it with oil. This will neutralize the rust and stop it from spreading. Repeat this in the spring and fall.

Doors.

On the bottom lip on the inside of the door you will see three holes in each door. These holes allow water to drain from the inside of the door.

Fill an oil can with a long slim nozzle with motor oil. Insert the tip way into the holes. Coat the bottom of the inside of the door with oil. This will stop current rust and also prevent rust from ever forming.

Do this every 3 to 6 months and your doors will never rust. This can greatly increase the resale value of your Honda.

Rust is a problem in the eastern part of the US because they use salt on the roads in the winter. Oil is a good way to slow down rust. But you need to wash the salt off the metal before coating it with oil.
