Question 2000 Silverado acting up

I have a 2000 silverado with 110,000 miles. I just got it as present from my parents. The truck was driving fine until recently, when I found out by experience that when I drive it about 15 miles countinously in the freeway the "check engine soon" light appears. When I get off the freeway and drive it in normal streets, the truck hesitates and the jolts and jumps forward. It also sounds like the engine is accelarated when its on idle. When the truck sits turned off for a while, it runs normal again until i drive it in the freeway again. Can anybody HELP! Any suggestions would be greatly apreciated. Thanks,
Francisco.

Get A Code Reader

Go to Autozone or somewhere and ask to borrow a code reader and look up the pending codes. I do not think you are getting trouble codes.

I bought the autoXray from OReilly for $200.00 or if you are around Irving, TX the fine dealership around here will read the codes for you for only $200.00... what a deal ;P

$10.00 I bet you have a lose wire on one of your sensors or you could be getting dentation or something.

Do you mean Detonation or dentation?

Re: 2000 Silverado acting up

When you have the codes read, they may come up with a slipping transmission. (lot's about that here)
The Computer senses slipping and jacks the presures up to compensate. When you turn of the key and turn it back on the computer resets. The fix is a shift kit and Corvett Servo.

Re: 2000 Silverado acting up

First off, I want to say thanks to those who viewed, replied to my thread. I have gone through some stages of fixture with a mechanic that the dealer sent my truck to. He has changed some of the sensors in the truck to fix the original problem, but the truck still acts up. Does any one think that maybe it can be the torque converter? Any feedback would be helpfull.
