i have a question. im rebuilding my engine and i need to know what new parts will i need to replace and what parts i should replace anyways for better performance. i'm getting new pistons but will this mean i'll have to get new connecting rods, valves, valve springs, retainer, etc. will i also have to get new ruel injectors, and if i do i'm probably going to add aftermarket injectors but will this add to much pressure on them to supply the fuel needed for them? will the fuel injectors need new fuel pump, pressure regulator, and fuel rail to go with it. could someone help me out.

it would be best if you are going to replace the pistons to replace everything down there. you don't have to but it is best. now depending on what you plan on doing ie. turbo, supercharger, nos. you will be seeing higher HP gains and stronger internals would be better. will make the engine more reliable. as with the fuel, with new injectors, and i'm assuming that you are getting bigger injectors, you should go ahead and upgrade the fuel rail and pressure regulator and fuel pump. you will see a small HP gain from the fuel upgrade but not much. doing a fuel upgrade is better for the engine when you do forced induction or a NOS application. that is where you will see noticable gains.

i'm not looking to add any turbo or nos. i'm trying to go all motor with just some internals improvements. i'm looking to improve my internals to the point where i don't have to be too careful about what i do. im going to be traveling from new york to florida with the car so i don't want to do something that requires limited driving. i know the better fuel adjustment will improve on my gas mileage. i just don't want to strain my engine.

well in that case, what would hurt by making your engine stronger? you can't go wrong by getting stronger internals. i would do the same thing if i had the money.

yeah money is a factor for me also but i only want to spend on parts i have to replace. i hear the valve and valve springs have to be replace since they are going to add displacement. i'm going to replace the pistons since it's common sense and the fuel system to add better gas mileage, but what other parts i HAVE to replace and which i SHOULD do anyways. for example i already own crowers cams, but do i have to replace the connecting rods and the crankshaft. will they still perform well with new valves and pistons.

while you're at it you may want to replace the pistons with b16 pistons instead of the stock replacments- give yourself an added compression

also you may want a automotive machne shop to rebuild your motor- they can help you determine what should be replaced

u need to get some high compression pistons. that will help out with those crower cams u got. u have the 62402, 62403 or 62404 cams? if u have the 62403 or 62404's did u upgrade the valvesprings and retainers?

high compression pistons, rings, rod bearings. u might wanna replace the crank bearings too while ur in there. u could probably use the stock rods but an upgrade will be nice. new oil pump. just redo everything in the bottom end.

for the fuel issue, if ur stay n allmotor then u dont need a new fuel rail. i would get a fuel pressure regulator though.
