Tires & rims question

I was thinkig in what to do as soon as I finish with the mechanical part of the proyect I almos finish with the rear suspension, tranfer case, etc, installations, and stariting the body work (body kit installation and paint) before make the engine swap, after that buy some rims and tires, but I was thinking on what brand of tires to buy, a lot of people recomend me Michelin, and I check and a set of Michelin pilot sport 225/40yr18 with some 18"x7.5 O.Z. rims (15 lbs each) will cost me like 1900 shipped, but to spend that money I will need a lot of time to get the money what means NOT DRIVE THE CAR, so What do you think?, wich brands of rims are good, cheap and light??? (I'm still thinking on keep the michelins $200 each). But may be there are some best brand than michelin and cheaper. thanks for the help.

don't waste your money on michelins, you can get tires that are perfectly good for your purposes for half as much.

I wrote a thread about this... go to DSMtuners for the tire FAQ in the suspension and tire forum. It lists the top performing tires, as tested by tirerack.com.

As for wheels, 18's aren't light, but it's all opinion. Search for pictures. The best to me are Rays, like te-37's and the like.

i checked but it doesn't said nothing about wich brand have better grip on summer weather, on wet, etc, thats what I need to know I allready know about the off set and all that stuff but I want to know about brands, quality, the same with the rims. Thanks

they dont last they dry out and crack. and then the ydont pass inspection. they wear ok but they arent worth the money

i didn't know that, that happend to you?, I had michelins on the gs-t 16's stock rims but I didn't have the time to test them. So wich brand do you recomend?

the garage i work at recomends coopers or hercules (same as coopers just a diff name) but i dont know about for low profile sport tires.

I see, but I never see those brands, i check on tirerack.com I they are not ther, I made a check on that page with almos all the brands they offer and finally I saw that the michelins were the best ones, FOR SUMMER, and wet conditions. Where I can find the tires you said?

check out www.victoriatire.com and www.vulcantire.com , I recommend the Pirelli P Zero System Asimmetrico and Yokohama AVS Sport, both of which should offer performance similar to the Michelins for about $100 less/tire
