Vibe vs Matrix

I am considering buying Vibe or Matrix. Are these two really the same cars? What is different? Could I expect the same quality from the Pontiac car like I would expect from the Toyota?
How much these two cars have in common?

Vibe and Matrix are virtually the same car, interior and engine wise. Options and rebates will vary depending on the model. I chose to go with the Vibe because of the rebates, supporting American economy and my dad works for GM so I get a discount. Overall I'm happy with my purchase, Vibe base model with Western package aka power package. My only complaint is I have is the blindspots (I'm not sure if it's bcs I'm short, 5'0, or what) but I wished I test drove the Matrix just to be sure. I've added blindspot mirrors so just have to get used to them. Anyway, my co-worker bought the Matrix and said that he wished he had either gotten the Vibe or maybe the Mazda version (I forget the model) as he said that the engine is stronger. Hope this helps.

Wink Vibe vs Matrix

I had my 2005 Vibe for 3 weeks now. I did a fair amount of comparing with the Matrix. I went with the Vibe for following reasons (in no specific order): (1) My employer offered a rebate program - Dealer cost + 4%. (2) Options/Packages are better at GM (I could get a moonroof without having to pay for 17-inch alloy wheels...). (3) I preferred the looks of the Vibe. The absence of side moldings on the Matrix doors make it look like a tall piece of metal when you stand beside it. (4) Although I'll never actually use it, the roof rack (standard on all Vibes) makes it look very nice.
That being said, if everything had been equal, I would have gone with the Matrix just because I think the resale value might be better because it has the "Toyota" label.

Re: Vibe vs Matrix

The Vibe and Matrix are assembled in Fremont, California by NUMMI - New United Motors Manufacturing - a joint venture between GM and Toyota. The vehicle design is Toyota, as is the engine, and tranny. Assembly is done in an old GM plant that was previously closed. Joint GM/Toyota vehicles have been coming out of this plant for about 15 years or so. The same vehicles, just badged differently.

Re: Vibe vs Matrix

One of the interior main difference is the gauges. If you look on the Vibe they're completely Red. If you look on the Matrix Ther're Red with some blue hues. I went with the Vibe, because in my area I saved about 3-4 grand before the rebates.
