'93 Blazer--Got to kill those birds!!!!!
This is more of a gripe than anything else but I would like to know from anyone else, just out of curiousity, does your blazer back window chirp, squeak, whatever, and did you do anything about it?
I am getting ready to install 2 new window hinges @ $27 each, a new window keeper @ $13 and new bushings for the spare tire carrier. I wanted to get a new plastic striker for the tire carrier but you have to buy the whole metal plate @$27, hmmmm, I think I will cut a piece of delrin on the lathe for that. I have tried numerous things over the years but to avail and decided to just bite the bullet. My sanity was slowly deteriorating listening to that flock of birds that I was hauling around. Anyone find a better cure? shotgun....poison.... |

What I found that helps...(for a little while) is putting some electrical tape on the metal U-shaped piece that latches into the back tailgate.
There probably is a way to tighten the connection to the tailgate, but I believe this shouldn't be done too much since that migth shatter the glass. Thats all the info I can give....good luck! -Skeeter6755 |

Mikado, It's your reach hatch glass?
My wife and I have been guessing that it was our rear side windows (triangle-shaped) on our 2-door 4x4 Blazer. Which part is actually squeaking? The hinge? The glass? It's been driving me nuts, too! |

Re: '93 Blazer--Got to kill those birds!!!!!
I have an electric rear window release button. I was driving down the road, put it in neutral and pushed the button. The birds got quiet.
Well, I have gotten the hinges off (they have side to side play and up and down) and the new ones on. (I put the lady friend inside to undo the bolts with the window closed so I didn't have to remove the pressure cylinders, boy, did it get hot in there, I should have parked in the shade but I didn't let her know that) I also have gotten the new keeper or latch on. I adjusted the latch pins for the gate to hold the gate tighter which will in turn seat the rear window a little tighter to the seal. I'll be takin' it for a ride a little later. Also, found out the driver's side hinge pin on the gate is a little worn. Might try that next if the birds come back. The pin appears the same as the doors but don't know for sure. |

Re: '93 Blazer--Got to kill those birds!!!!!
THE BIRDS HAVE FLOWN THE COOP!!!
However..... I think the landed on my front brakes cause the wiper started to chirp. Geez,,, ain't one thing 'tis another. dogtired78, try driving with the window unlatched and see if they go away (the birds that is). Maybe just the latch keeper was all it was, you could try that, it's cheap enough but I was at the point of paying anything to just drive in the quiet. |

1994 and older models were plagued with the squeaks.
Take time and a lot of trouble shooting to find them. |
